However, there is some hope. Wordpress.com, the 20th most popular website in the world, and most importantly, the most widely used blogging platform in the world, has decided to accept Bitcoin as a method of payment for donations.
This is a huge milestone not only for Bitcoin, but the internet as a whole. The Wordpress announcement is getting some serious press coverage, and has the potential to shift the opinions on Bitcoin of many.
The Bitcoin community is now urging the Wikimedia Foundation to reconsider their stance after news about Wordpress' acceptance of the currency broke out.
This statement is true if the Wikimedia Foundation accepts Bitcoin as a payment method for donations before 12:00 a.m ET on Febuary 15th, 2013.
